Home Meet - Lindon vs. Springville - June 13th

If you did not receive the mass email I sent out, please email me so I can put you on the email list.

Attention Parent Volunteers,

Thank you so much for being willing to volunteer to assist the swim team this year! As volunteers, we need your help in making sure that the meet runs smoothly and efficiently, so a big thank you to each of you!

Upcoming Swim Meet Info

Hi All,

If your child is not able to come to many of the meets, please contact me. There is a possible invitational this week that you could go to in order to get qualifying times for the County Meets. Email me.

We will be holding our first swim meet this Saturday, here at Lindon! So here's just a few things to be aware of as a heads up.

Sign Ups

  • This Tuesday we will have sign ups for our home meet, Saturday the 13th. Your swimmer may choose three events to swim and if they would like to participate in a relay.
  • Participating in a relay is not guaranteed. We as coaches will be putting the relays together and will try to give everyone an opportunity to participate in a relay if they'd like to throughout the season.
  • If you or your child will not be here when we do sign ups, please email what events they will be swimming.

Volunteers

  • I will be sending out an email, text, or call this week to those who have volunteered. So please keep a look out for that.
  • If you have volunteered for a position and are unable to attend this coming meet, please let me know. If you have not signed up to volunteer and can, contact me.
Also, you can now subscribe to the blog. On the right side of the blog, under County Meets, you can do so by typing in your email.

Best,

Kristi

Private Swim Lessons

As mentioned in our parent meeting, we as coaches also offer private swim lessons to work on technique, dives, turns, strokes, etc... I've had a few questions concerning private lessons so if you are interested in having us personally, one on one, coach your children, please do the following:

  1. Email me with a subject line of "PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS - your child's name"
  2. Tell me the name of participant(s)
  3. Age
  4. Parent's name
  5. Phone number
  6. Availability: Morning, Afternoon, Evening
  7. Teacher requested if any:
  8. Tell me what you'd like them to work on during the lesson
  9. How many lessons you would like to do.
We will then call you and set up a time that works for you and the instructor for the private lessons. Next, because it is an agreement between you and the instructor and not the pool, before the first lesson Lindon Aquatics requires us to fill out a "Private Swim Lesson Instructor Agreement." This details the times, cost of the lesson/fee to use the Lindon pool, and a few other logistics.

Privates are a great opportunity to hone in on skills and technique to improve stroke and speed. These usually last around 30 mins, but can go longer if desired.

Email me if you have any questions!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Hello Lindon Swim Team Parents of 2015,

We as a coaching staff are so excited to be working with your children this year! We ask for your patience and help as we get this season started off with a splash!

There are a few items of business that you each need to be aware of so please read all the way to the end! There may be something that benefits you if you do! :) I promise not all my posts will be this long. We just have a lot to go over. Plus, I'd like us to be on the same page.

Email List
If you are not on the emailing list, please email me your email and contact information so you can receive updates.

Swim Team Caps

You may purchase the swim caps at the front office. They are the same as last year and cost $5. Please be aware if the cap is ripped you will need to buy another for the meets. So we suggest have a practice cap. You can purchase these at very little cost (usually like $3) at various swim shops.

Swim Team Shirts
Team shirts are included in the fee for registration. We need to know your sizes by tomorrow at 12 pm. Please let us know your child's sizes by tomorrow! We will ask in practice as well.

*Swim Meet Needs - The MOST Important Part
The following is found in the bylaws for the Utah Valley Summer Swim League Rules for Competition. When you signed up your children for swim team, you agreed to follow these bylaws. Each team in the league are subject to the same rules.

“Meet Staffing Requirements: It is required that all meets be staffed as follows:

1.     4-stroke judges (one from each team). Must be approved by the Head Official.
2.     A Starter.
3.     Referee
4.     Clerk of Course
5.     Finish judge
6.     Bullpen director
7.     Two timers per lane.

If a team does not supply an official to the stroke clinic presented at the beginning of the summer, no meets participated in at the teams pool will be counted as a legal meet....Host teams, in a dual meet, will provide the officials and all timers. If a team doesn't have the required amount of officials to the officials meeting held at the beginning of each season, all meets held at that facility will not be counted as an official meet and will not be counted toward entry into the final county swim meets. A list will be provided at the beginning of the season of all teams that have sent representatives."

ATTENTION: We have only had four people sign up to be stroke judges. I cannot stress this enough- we CANNOT hold meets without people attending the Training Meeting on June 10th to become stroke judges, a starter, and a meet referee. We need you as parents to help us run our meets.

**Those who attend the Training Meeting on June 10th will receive $50 back at the end of the season if they attend the meeting and do their job at the home meets. The meeting also counts toward the required volunteer hours. So it’s a great way to fill those hours if you have multiple children on the team. The positions below must be filled.

Here is a list of positions we still need filled.
1 Meet Referee*
2 Starters*
1 Clerk of Course*
1 Event Caller

We have too many timers, ribbon masters, runners, and party committee members so if you have signed up for those positions we need a few from each group to switch. If you are willing to switch and fill the positions needed or if you have not signed up to volunteer, please contact me as soon as possible! Please don’t assume that other people will switch or sign up for these required positions.

Please be aware that we are keeping track of volunteer hours. So if you do not fulfill your volunteer hours (4.5 hours per child) you and your children will not be allowed to attend the end of the season party. This is to ensure that we will have a meaningful, successful, and complete swim season. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or the LAC Manager.

Thank you for your support and involvement!

Sincerely,
Head Coach Kristi Hargiss
LAC Manager Daniel Adair

Today's Swimmers

Today's Swimmers!

Nice work at tryouts today! Thanks for braving the weather with us! For those of you who tried out today and made the team, you need to make sure you are registered online. This is not our responsibility as coaches to sign you up. So register your child for the group that the coaches told you they made it into.

If you had already registered before tryouts, don't worry. However, if you need to switch your child to a different group then the one you originally signed up for, you will need to contact us so we can switch your child to the appropriate group.

Go to lindoncity.org or the following website to register: http://www.activityreg.com/selectactivity.wcs

If you have questions about today's tryout or registering, feel free to email me at lindonswimteam@gmail.com or give the pool a call.

Again, nice job! We are excited to work with each of you!

Coaches Kristi, Rachel, and Tate
